Food Waste Caddy
Every week, no exceptions

Collected weekly for every household, including bank holiday weeks. Use the small kitchen caddy indoors, empty into the brown lockable outdoor bin. Use newspaper or a compostable liner — not a plastic bag.

Garden Waste

Optional chargeable service for grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves and small branches. Runs 1 April to 31 March with a 4-week break over Christmas.

Household Waste Recycling Centre (The Tip)
Margate Household Waste Recycling Centre

Manston Road, Margate, CT9 4LX — run by Kent County Council. A booking slot is required before every visit; you can't queue without one. Bring ID/proof of address for your first visit if asked. No business or trade waste, and the height barrier is 2m (6'6").

Missed a Collection?

If your bin, bag or box was out at the boundary by 6am on collection day, report it before 5:30pm the next working day via the council's waste portal. If it's your food caddy that was missed, it will simply be emptied on your next normal collection — no need to report it.

Bulky Waste Collection

Chargeable council collection for old furniture, appliances and large household items. Bookings are by phone only, paid by card. Not available to landlords — items from a business or rental must go through a registered trade waste carrier.
